I know it’s so cliche’, but I just can’t help it…”It’s going by SO fast”!! Their childhoods, my babies…I blink and another year has gone by! I’m feeling that sentiment especially strong today. Why?! Because my baby turns SIX today–the one who made me a mama! We started this April day 6 years ago by waking up into Labor & Delivery for an induction and our world was forever changed at 7:57pm when our little guy entered the world. I know, I know….a six year old might seem like a baby to some of you. But, in my world right now, six seems so grown up. Six is no longer a baby, a toddler, or even a preschooler. Six is unbelievable to me! Awwww! Six has me a little emotional right now. Part of me seems like those baby days were seriously just yesterday and yet part of me feels like I can hardly remember that chubby baby face. He’s looking like such a little boy now! He’s even lost 3 baby teeth in the last 3 months!
Sometimes I wish there was a pause button. A way to just freeze time in the moment. Yet, as much as I miss some of those precious baby & toddler moments, each new phase brings so many fun things too! Six is learning to read. It’s performing today in a little school assembly. Six is playing with Star Wars figurines and building amazing Lego creations. It’s learning to tie shoes, asking a million questions, and having an incredible imagination. Six is old enough to help, but still need help. It’s “grown up”, but still SO little.
So, this mama is looking forward to all the awesomeness that six will be and holding out hope that it doesn’t go by too fast. But, something tells me though that I’ll be thinking the same thing on this day next year!
And, don’t even get me started on the fact that “Little Brother” turns THREE tomorrow! Seriously, we JUST brought him home from the hospital! (Yes–they have back-to-back birthdays! Crazy, I know!) Gah!
Happy Birthday to my “big boys”!
How do you keep it from going by too fast?! If you have any answers, I’d love to hear them!
