Of course Colorado is known for skiing and snowboarding in our adorable mountain towns, but there is so much to do and see even if you just stick to the Denver area. Fun Winter Activities in Denver
Southwest Rink at Skyline Park
Head downtown and do a little ice skating. Skate rental is just $2 and skating is free. The rink is open November 24th – February 15th.
The Grand Illumination
Watch Downtown Denver light up for the holidays during the Grand Illumination on Friday, November 27 starting at 6 p.m. Landmarks such as Denver Union Station, The City & County Building, the 16th Street Mall, Skyline Park, the D&F Tower and more will be lit up for the season.
Colorado Ballet Nutcracker
Experience the 55th annual Nutcracker Ballet preformed by the Colorado Ballet preformed at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The show runs from November 28th through December 27th.
Evergreen Lake House
Enjoy the world’s largest Zamboni-groomed outdoor ice rink surrounded by Colorado’s beautiful mountains. The rink is open mid-December through February depending on weather.
Every night from December 4th – January 3rd see the Denver Zoo in a whole new way. Lighted animal sculptures, nightly entertainment, Santa meet and greets and more.
9NEWS Parade of Lights
Marching bands, floats, characters, lights and more is a great winter time parade in Denver on December 4th and 5th this year.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks Downtown
Bring in the new year with a bang. Downtown Denver has two fireworks shows for your enjoyment one at 9:00 pm and one at Midnight.
A Colorado Christmas at Four Mile Historic Park
Spend December 5th in Victorian fashion with Father Christmas, arts and crafts, traditional games, storytelling, decorating the Four Mile tree, and even roasting chestnuts.
Blossoms of Light
Take a winter stroll through the Denver Botanic Gardens at night and enjoy the beautiful lights. November 27th – January 2nd 5:30-9:00
Trail of Lights
The Trail of Lights at the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms will offer two lighted paths, a children’s play area with music, and seasonal entertainment. November 27th – January 2nd
Enjoy holiday songs played by 300 tuba players December 20th.
National Western Stock Show
The 110th National Western Stock Show takes place January 9th – 24th. Grab the family, your boots, and your cowboy hats for rodeo’s, horse shows, kid’s activities, and much more.
